Our environment
Tarn Gorges, and more generally the whole Lozère département, have a very protected environment. You will get a chance to see it during your stay. It is due, among other things, to the low population density (16 residents per km² in Lozère) and to a moutain-climate farming that is respectful of nature and seasons.
At Gîte de la Baume, we want to help in our own way preserve this destination. Therefore, we have a few things put in place for the duration of your stay:
-
reusable food containers to take your picnic with you
-
reusable tote bags and fabric cooler bags as well as two old bicycles to run small errands in the village's shops (bakery, local products, souvenir shop)
-
day-long activity suggestions to save gas and discover each area
-
recent heating systems (radiant heaters and pellet stove)
We also chose to prioritize upcycling and second-hand objects. To that end, we chose to keep appliances that belonged to the gite before the renovation (washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, kitchen stove, bedframes in the small bedroom, etc.) and to buy second-hand items every time it was possible (microwave, coffee machine, couch, table football etc.).
