In La Malène

Local shops

for you to have a good time

Nothing is nicer than being able to walk, early in the morning, to the Fournil Malénais bakery, where Christophe and Myriam will provide you with pastries as well as breads made with locally produced flours and specialty pastries such as gateau à la broche.

At any time of the summer, you can enjoy the terraces of salon de thé de la Fontaine or bar de l'Embarcadère and even taste a delicious meal at La Table de LisaPizzéria des 4 voûtes or Manoir de Montesquiou.

At the end of your stay, depending on the time of year, Cathy will gladly welcome you into her souvenir shop to find a Lozère-themed gift to bring back home. Léana will also show you around her book-binding workshop right next to the souvenir shop, from May to September.

First and foremost, summer here is ideal to go swimming in the fresh and energizing waters of the Tarn river.

The small boat tours (suitable for people of any age) with Bateliers des Gorges du Tarn are available from the beginning of April to the beginning of November, depending on the weather. Just like thei ancestors used to do back when the road wasn't built yet, the barque skippers offer an 8-kilometer boat ride along the water, going through important landmarks: the famous Détroits (narrowest part of Gorges du Tarn) and the equally admired Cirque des Baumes. The skippers (bateliers) will share with passion their knowledge of local history, wildlife and nature.

From the beginning of May to the end of September (dates can change due to weather conditions), you can also go for a canoe ride. Several rental companies offer options for you to spend a few hours on the water, for a nice moment with your family. Younger children are not allowed on canoe rides. Please ask the rental company for more information. â€‹

The paddle board ride, in the summer, is a newly-developed activity in Gorges du Tarn that quickly found its way among our visitors.
